Matanzas Pass Fishing Pier |
![]() You are here: ![]() |
The Matanzas Pass fishing pier is a cool and breezy spot to wet a fishing line. Its location in the middle of the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve provides sights and sounds of a wide variety of creatures.Above the Matanzas Pass Fishing Pier lies the northern bridge to Fort Myers Beach. The bridge opened on May 31,1921 with a toll of fifty cents. A concrete bridge with a steel swing was installed in 1928 and served the islanders well until the new sixty-five-foot-high sky bridge was completed in 1979. The call of an osprey from a sailboat mast to his mate high in the bridge girders, the splash of a cormorant diving into the bay and the graceful walk of a Great White Heron along the dock...all this will entertain you as you patiently wait for the rewards of a day's fishing.STATUS: Open the public 24 hours 365 days a year. Parking is free. LOCATION: Under the Matanzas Pass Bridge at the corner of Old San Carlos and First Street, Fort Myers Beach, Florida 33931 |
